ReadIt™ Fault Distance Monitor |
The ReadIt™ Fault Distance Monitor is a standalone monitoring system designed to cost effectively reduce customer minutes of electric service interruption on primary underground distribution systems. The ReadIt™ Fault Distance Monitor is installed at the normal open-point on a loop or radial circuit. A single unit monitors an entire loop or radial circuit, and indicates the distance from the normal open-point to the fault. The fault distance is compared to the circuit to determine the corresponding switching points required for fault isolation and power restoration. This eliminates the need to install Fault Circuit Indicators in every transformer.
The ReadIt™ Fault Distance Monitor has a specially designed stored energy power supply, and completely eliminates the need for batteries. When power fails, the unit’s power supply utilizes stored energy to power itself long enough to compute distance to fault and update its’ state-of-the-art Zero-Power LCD display. Once updated, the Zero-Power LCD Display holds its reading indefinitely. This state-of-the-art Zero-Power LCD also has very high contrast and is sunlight viewable.
The ReadIt™ Fault Distance Monitor can therefore be less expensive to purchase than an equivalent Fault Circuit Indicator installation, require significantly less time to install (12 times faster on average), and significantly reduce outage time by providing a remote read out from a single location on a complete circuit.
